King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan officially visit the Netherlands 20-21 March upon the invitation from King Willem-Alexander.
The visit replaces the previously planned State Visit that was initially scheduled in November 2017.
The last visit to Jordan by the Dutch Royals was in 1994 when the former Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus visited the country to meet with King Hussein and Queen Noor.
Embed from Getty ImagesThe two-day visit focusses on the excellent bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Jordan. Together both countries are working on the stability of Jordan and the broader region, with particular attention to the acceptance of Syrian refugees in Jordan.
On Tuesday following the welcome ceremony at Noordeinde Palace, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, King Abdullah and Queen Rania will visit World Class Students at the Diligentia theatre in The Hague.
During the visit, The King of Jordan will give a speech and talk to students from World Class The Hague.
King Willem-Alexander and King Abdullah will then attend a roundtable discussion on counterterrorism. Their Majesties will talk with experts from The National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security and the Dutch police.
Before the meeting, an agreement will be signed as part of increased counterterrorism collaboration between Jordan and the Netherlands.
Queen Máxima and Queen Rania will go their own way and visit the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.
During their visit, the Dutch and Jordanian Queens will partake in a guided tour of works by Piet Mondriaan, one of the founders of the innovative and abstract art movement De Stijl.
In the Wonder Rooms of the museum, an interactive and educational art experience they will meet some high school students working on various class assignments.
Tuesday will conclude with a dinner at Noordeinde Palace.
On Wednesday The King of Jordan will visit Parliament to meet with Chairman Ankie Broekers-Knol of the Senate of the States General, Chairman Khadija Arib of the House of Representatives of the States General and members of Parliamentary Committees.
Following a delegation meeting, the King and Queen of Jordan and The King and Queen of The Netherlands will be joined by Prime Minister Rutte for lunch.
Before joining their husbands for lunch, Queen Máxima and Queen Rania will visit the Technology & ICT campus of ROC Mondriaan in The Hague.
The visit is to focus on secondary vocational education in the Netherlands and how the combination of learning and working can increase future employment.
Queen Máxima and Queen Rania will view some of the student’s projects as well as meet with teachers and stakeholders to discuss their experience in the programme.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will bid farewell to King Abdullah and Queen Rania at Noordeinde Palace.
The Jordanian Royal Couple will then visit the Joint Inspection Center Schiphol (JIC) at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. During the visit, it will be shown how air freight can be handled quickly and safely thanks to this cooperation between public and private parties.
Following the visit to the Joint Inspection Center, The King and Queen of Jordan will bid the Netherlands farewell.
