He is the third child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and fifth in line to the throne but many of you might be surprised to hear of the link between Prince Louis Arthur Charles and Harry Potter.
While the names chosen for the Prince are indeed historically significant and chosen for this reason alone, it appears that the world of royalty and the wizarding world have collided.
The official Twitter account for JK Rowling’s Pottermore revealed the connection between Prince Louis and the much loved Weasley family from the magical world of Harry Potter.
The official account Tweeted, “Louis Arthur Charles you were named after three iconic Weasleys.”
So let’s break it down for you in reverse order:
Charles: Charlie Weasley is the second eldest son of Molly and Arthur Weasley and attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1984-1991 and was sorted into Gryffindor. Charlie spends most of his time working with dragons in Romania.
Arthur: As mentioned, Arthur Weasley is the Patriarch of the family and attended Hogwarts from 1961-1968. He was a member of the Second Order of the Phoenix and worked at the Ministry of Magic in the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office.
Louis: Now this is where only diehard fans of Harry Potter will see a connection. Louis is never actually mentioned in the Harry Potter series. He is the son of Bill and Fleur Weasley and is born after the events of the books take place. We are only aware of Louis’s existence because of a fictional family tree made by JK Rowling after the series had come to an end.
What makes this connection even more special is that Bill’s full name is actually William! An association that The Duke of Cambridge surely must be proud of.
Though it is highly unlikely that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose the names for their third child based on their love for Harry Potter, the connection did seem to impress fans of the wizarding world and royal world alike. Though Cambridge fans will remember the famous duel between William and Kate at the Warner Bros Studios.
