The newest addition to the Swedish Royal Family will be christened on 8 June 2018. The date is not only extraordinary for Adrienne but her parents as well. Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill got married on the same day five years ago. Princess Adrienne’s sister, Prince Leonore was also baptised on 8 June back in 2014.
Like her brother and sister before her as well as cousins, Princess Adrienne Josephine Alice will be baptised at the Chapel of Drottningholm Palace. The Palace is also the home of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia and where Princess Madeleine grew up.
The Princess will wear the traditional baptism gown King Carl, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Phillip, Princess Madeleine wore. Adrienne’s name will also be embroidered on the gown like her grandfather, aunt, uncle, mother and cousins before her.
The 45-minute ceremony will begin at noon, with guests arriving between 11-11.40 am and will be officiated by Archbishop Antje Jackelén, Bishop Johan Dalman and the Pastor of the Royal Family, Michael Bjerkhagen.
Princess Adrienne will receive the Order of the Seraphim from King Carl during the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a 21 gun salute will take place at Skeppsholmen.
There will be a short walkabout by the family for those gathered to see. Let’s hope for a lovely sunny day!
A reception will follow for guests and was as a luncheon.
Princess Madeleine and her husband have asked instead of gifts a donation to The World Childhood Foundation (founded by Queen Silvia) of Min Stora Dag, for which Madeleine is Patron is welcomed.
