What should we wear to the Royal Wedding?

This week is the BIGGEST WEEK OF THE YEAR for Royal enthusiasts. I have had loads of time lately to think about the fashion from the last Royal Wedding this past week (I’m thinking of you, York Princesses) and it’s made me wonder what everyone will be wearing to this event. I’m also wondering if we will see anything resembling, “pretzel hat, part Deux.” I really hope not, but if we do, we will certainly have things to discuss well after the wedding is over.

I started looking about for what I would wear if I was invited to the Royal event of the year. Let me tell you, it’s not that easy! There are rules you have to follow and you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, right?

First of all, the dress code for ladies is “day dress with a hat.” Hmm. What most people would consider “day dress” still wouldn’t be quite appropriate for a Royal Wedding. It’s on a grander scale than going to church or Sunday brunch. I found several ideas. I am in love with the idea of a full tulle skirt like this one:

Paired with the matching sweater, it is so cute. But, there is no way this is dressy enough and separates would hardly be passable for a Royal wedding. You also can’t wear black because it’s a mourning colour and I do wear a lot of blacks so that isn’t even an option for me.

See? This is hard! But it’s also so fun to dream!

I do like this. I like this A WHOLE LOT. This one right here is the dress I would wear.

This stunning frock is Elie Saab Spring Couture 2013. It is absolutely gorgeous and totally my style. Hubby agrees I would turn heads in this dress. So this is the one!

Next problem…a hat.

What is that dress colour? Is it blue? Lavender? I can’t really tell. I have been looking for a matching hat all afternoon and I give up.

I did, however, find this:

If only it came in a colour to match my dress!

Most likely, I would be taking these pictures to my favourite milliner where I live for the perfect custom fascinator! She also has an Etsy shop and ships worldwide!

So what do you think about that hat? Is it too much with the dress? I almost think it would be, the more I look at it. But I love the style!

Let’s have some fun with this! I want you to put together your perfect Royal wedding outfit and let’s look at them all week to pass the time! Just send them attached to this tweet (attention @RoyalObsessed) and maybe we can even feature some of our favourites before the big day!

I can’t wait to see your looks!
