On Wednesday, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a video of The Duchess of Sussex reading to thier son, Archi Harrison, as a celebration of his first birthday. The Duchess was seen to be reading, Duck! Rabbit!, one of Archie’s favourite books. Prince Harry filmed the video and can be heard talking and cheering in the background.
The video did not come directly from The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and was first posted on the Instagram page of Save the Children, in a fundraising campaign for families and children struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds raised from this campaign will go towards Save the Children UK’s emergency grants programme which helps vulnerable families purchase basic items and food.
The caption for the video on the Instagram account reads, “Duck! Rabbit! with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex ( and Harry, the Duke of Sussex, behind the camera)… Happy Birthday Archie.”
The money raised from this campaign will see provision of supermarket vouchers, early learning resources and essential household items. The campaign is also being run in the United States where funds will ensure children can get the learning they need and the nutrition they require while out of school due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Duck! Rabbit! was written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld and asks children to work out whether pictures on the pages are a duck or a rabbit. It is said to be one of Archie’s favourite books.
The video sees Archie sat on his mother’s lap and Meghan reading to a smiling Archie. Throughout the video he grips the book and helps to turn the pages. Prince Harry is filming the video and can be heard talking to Meghan and Archie as well as cheering when the story is finished.
