Her Majesty The Queen has been styling her own hair during the Coronavirus lockdown, an insider has told The Sun. The Queen has been isolating at Windsor Castle since 18th March and due to UK lockdown regulations, her own hairdresser – Ian Carmichael – has been unable to visit so Her Majesty has been going solo.
The source told The Sun, “The Queen has done her own hair for years at Balmoral during her Summer holidays and so she’s used to it. She washes, dries and sets it herself – and she’s very good at it. She has had lots of practice and so she knows exactly what to do. Her dresser, Angela Kelly, has been helping her but The Queen does it all herself. It is just typical of her that she just keeps calm and makes the best of things.”
Ian Carmichael, The Queen’s hairdresser, has been with her for the last 23 years and usually visits Her Majesty at least once a week.
Unlike many others who are doing their own hair during lockdown, The Queen has had plenty of experience of grooming her own hair.
The Queen has been isolating alongside Prince Philip at Windsor Castle since mid-March and is expected to continue residing there for the foreseeable future, with it looking increasingly unlikely she will visit Balmoral for the Summer. It has also been revealed that The Queen’s diary is currently being reviewed for the next two years meaning that some engagements in the near future could be put on hold or postponed.
Since lockdown, The Queen has made a couple of television appearances – one to give a special Coronavirus address and the other to honour the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
The Queen’s hair looked perfectly fine on both occasions!
