It has been reported that it is highly unlikely that Her Majesty The Queen will return to Buckingham Palace at any point this year. The Queen and Prince Philip have been isolating at Windsor Castle since 19th March and are expected to travel to Balmoral Castle on the 1st August, remaining there for a number of months, possibly until late Autumn.

When The Queen moved to Windsor, it was expected that she would remain at the Berkshire castle until June and return to London in time for Trooping the Colour and Her Majesty’s Official Birthday celebrations.

The Queen and Prince Philip will soon travel to Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire following the relaxing of restrictions in Scotland. The Queen usually spends the entire Summer in Balmoral and doesn’t return to London until October. It is thought that this year’s trip to Balmoral will be an extended one and Her Majesty may remain there beyond October.

It has been reported that following the stay in Balmoral, The Queen and Prince Philip will return to Windsor Castle where they will remain for the majority of the year. It is unknown at this early time whether Her Majesty The Queen will travel to Sandringham for Christmas, as she usually does.

Buckingham Palace will remain closed to visitors and tourists this year though it was confirmed on Wednesday that Windsor Castle will reopen to visitors from the 23rd July. The Royal Collection Trust announced the news adding that the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh as well as the Royal Mews in London will also reopen. The Queen’s Galleries in London and Edinburgh will also reopen to the public as will all Royal Collection Trust’s shops.

A spokesperson for the Royal Collection Trust commented, “The COVID-19 pandemic has posed by far the greatest challenge to the Royal Collection Trust in the charity’s history. The closure to the public has had a very significant and serious impact on our finances, as we are entirely funded by visitor income from admissions and related retail sales.”

Royal Circular will keep our readers updated on all of The Queen’s latest travel plans as and when we know more details.
