In exclusive extracts of upcoming book ‘Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan’ it has been claimed that The Duke of Cambridge behaved in a snobbish way towards The Duchess of Sussex before she married his brother, Prince Harry. The book is currently being serialised by The Times and The Sunday Times and features stark claims about the relationship between William and Harry as well as the relationship between The Duchess of Cambridge and The Duchess of Sussex.

Co-authors of the book, Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, claim that Prince Harry was offended by Prince William’s advice when he urged Harry to “take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.” The authors also claim that The Duke of Cambridge was happy for his brother but worried that Harry “had been blindsided by lust” in his haste to marry Meghan Markle.

It is claimed that Prince Harry took William’s words of “this girl” offensively and ultimately interpreted it as “snobbish and condescending.”

A spokesperson for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex insisted that the couple had not been interviewed for ‘Finding Freedom’ and have not contributed to the book in any way. Neither did the spokesperson deny the claims serialised in The Times and The Sunday Times.

The spokesperson commented, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom. The book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the Royal Press Corps and their own independent reporting.”

Further claims made in ‘Finding Freedom’ include:

  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hardly spoke at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey in March despite not seeing each other since January.
  • Harry and Meghan believed that their complaints were not taken seriously and that other royal households were leaking stories about them to the press.
  • After their split from the Cambridge’s, Harry and Meghan were “disappointed” that they were to operate under the umbrella of Buckingham Palace.
  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex even considered breaking royal protocol by springing a surprise visit on The Queen when they believed they were being blocked from seeing Her Majesty.

A further claim regarding the relationship between William and Harry describes how The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s move to Windsor was due to the deteriorating relationship between the two brothers.

“He wanted to get away from the goldfish bowl that was Kensington Palace. Everywhere you turn, you’re surrounded by staff and family. He was at a point in his life where he was working with his brother, doing the foundation with his brother and living with his brother.”

A source said of Prince Harry, “He’s extremely protective of Meghan. He understands that a lot of people are against them, and he will do everything he can to keep her safe and away from getting hurt – even if that means distancing himself from those people.”

It was claimed by sources close to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last night that both William and Catherine “rolled out the red carpet” for Meghan before she married Prince Harry. William and Kate invited Meghan to Anmer Hall before the marriage and even put on a party for Meghan’s friends, bridesmaids and page boys shortly before the May 2018 ceremony. The Duchess of Cambridge even invited The Duchess of Sussex to attend Wimbledon with her for two successive years.

Further claims in ‘Finding Freedom’ suggest that a senior courtier was overheard telling a colleague “There is something about this girl I just don’t trust.” Palace officials were also said to refer to The Duchess of Sussex as “Harry’s showgirl” and claimed she came with “a lot of baggage.”

‘Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family’ is set to be released on 11th August 2020 and can be pre-ordered now.
