On a visit to School21 on Thursday morning, The Duke of Cambridge addressed The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent interview with Oprah Winfrey for the first time. When questioned on the interview, William revealed that he had not yet spoken to Prince Harry and that the Royal Family are “very much not a racist family.”
The Duke of Cambridge was joined by The Duchess of Cambridge at School21 in East London which has recently reopened following the Coronavirus pandemic. The founders of School21 came together with the shared belief that education must be done differently to prepare children and young adults for the world they would enter after leaving school.
School21 is a pioneering 4 to 18 school in Stratford, East London for children of different backgrounds.
The Harry and Meghan interview was first aired in the United States on Sunday evening. It’s UK showing was broadcast on ITV on Monday night.
Following its airing, The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William were locked in crisis talks alongside Buckingham Palace officials on the best way to respond. On Tuesday, a 61 word statement was released on behalf of The Queen which read,
“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.“
