The Duke of Edinburgh left the King Edward VII hospital early on Tuesday morning after an extended four-week stay. His Royal Highness was seen walking to his car at the rear of the Central London hospital.
Early on Tuesday morning, police had blocked off vehicle access to the hospital in preparation for the Duke’s departure.
Prince Philip was first admitted to King Edward VII hospital on 16th February before being transferred to St Bartholomew’s Hospital two weeks later where he underwent a procedure for a pre-existing heart condition.
Following a short stay at St Bartholomew’s, Prince Philip was then transferred back to the King Edward VII hospital where he has remained until Tuesday 16th March.
Buckingham Palace are yet to release an official statement on the Duke’s discharge from hospital and it is expected he will return to Windsor Castle where he and The Queen have been for the last few months.
