The Dalai Lama has sent his personal condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and The Prince of Wales following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh on Friday 9th April.
The Buddhist Spiritual Leader sent two separate letters addressed to The Queen and Prince Charles.
In his message to The Queen, the Dalai Lama said, “I am sorry to learn the sad news that your husband, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh has passed away. I will pray for him and offer my condolences to Your Majesty and your family at this sad time. As we all remember him, we can rejoice that he lived a meaningful life.”
In the message to the Prince of Wales, the Dalai Lama said, “I have written to your mother, Her Majesty The Queen, offering my condolences at this sad time. As someone who counts you as a dear, respected friend, I would also like to offer my condolences to Your Royal Highness and your family.”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. The 14th and current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso and was born on 6th July 1935.
The Duke of Edinburgh passed away at Windsor Castle on Friday 9th April at the age of 99. Funeral arrangements for Prince Philip are expected to be announced at some point on Saturday.
