Her Majesty The Queen has joined Paddington Bear for afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace as part of a sketch for the ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ which took place on Saturday evening. The sketch opened the star-studded concert outside Buckingham Palace and was a complete surprise to those watching including members of The Royal Family.
In a segment which is being compared to Her Majesty’s London 2012 starring role alongside James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, The Queen lit up the screen with her witty remarks to the most famous bear in the world.
In the sketch, The Queen patiently tolerates a tea-slurping Paddington before revealing that, like Paddington, she too carries a marmalade sandwich with her wherever she goes – in her world famous black handbag.
Following the marmalade revelation, Her Majesty The Queen and Paddington Bear both clinked out the martial drum beat of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ as Brian May played a guitar solo in front of the Queen Victoria memorial.
If we’re kind and polite, the world will be right. Thank you.

The ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ was the highlight of day three of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The star-studded concert featured the likes of Rod Stewart, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Duran Duran and Diana Ross. Both The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge gave heartfelt speeches commemorating Her Majesty’s seventy years on the throne.
The Paddington scenes were pre recorded with The Queen acting alongside a CGI bear, voiced by Ben Whishaw.
